America has ran it’s course. We all know that 400 years of European rule is coming to an end. What does that mean for the culture of Black America? Let’s think back to the days of Harlem Renaissance when there was an intellectual, social, and artistic explosion that was known as the “New Negro Movement”. Black people felt free to express who they truly were. That was a time where people had to self identify with their own talents and capabilities in order to provide themselves a means to survive. We had the best seamstress, singers, dancers, entrepreneurs that among the white were able to sustain themselves and still be able to send some of their fortune back to home to their southern families who couldn’t travel north. What shifted this culture from being independently interdependent upon one another to selfishly taking away from one another to hoard useless things that hold no true value? Systematic oppression, which lead to poverty, due to the Europeans creating a system of self-preservation that was and still IS centered around making sure their families can survive for generations. They literally sucked the lives out of everyone around them in order to make sure their generations after them are well off. When do we say NO MORE? When do we rise above the beast? When do we take back our pride, dignity and love for one another? When do we set ourselves FREE, to be our individual selves and strip away these meaningless titles the gave us to make us few worthy of hope in sustaining in a system that was NOT AND IS NOT CREATED FOR OUR WELL BEING?
